Riverview Materials Inc in Riverdale, IL is seeking a Yard Supervisor to lead our outdoor yard operations at a busy recycling facility. You will supervise a team of drivers, operators, and laborers to ensure safe, efficient material handling and smooth truck flow.

The ideal candidate has 4+ years in yards, 1+ year in supervision, and experience operating forklifts, skid steers, and loaders. Strong leadership, safety focus, and bilingual communication are a plus.

Qualifications

• 4+ years in a yard environment (recycling, scrap, waste, or construction).
• 1+ year in a supervisory or lead role.
• Experience operating heavy equipment (forklift, skid steer, loader).

Responsibilities

• Lead daily yard operations including loading/unloading, sorting, and equipment use.
• Reduce downtime and ensure swift truck turnover.
• Guide and support yard staff: drivers, operators, sorters, and laborers.
• Uphold OSHA, EPA, and company safety standards.
• Coordinate routine equipment inspections and maintenance.
• Collaborate with the General Manager on performance and growth opportunities.
• Operate forklifts, skid steers, loaders, and yard trucks when needed.
• Maintain a clean, safe yard for all employees.

We're on the lookout for a proactive individual who loves working outdoors and thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced recycling facility in Riverdale. If you have experience leading a dedicated team of operators, drivers, and laborers, this role might be the perfect fit for you!

As our Yard Supervisor, you’ll play a key role in supervising our yard operations, which involve sorting materials, loading, operating equipment, and managing truck flow. Your main goal will be to ensure a safe, efficient, and productive environment for everyone on site. This isn’t just a desk job; we’re searching for someone who enjoys collaboration and can dive right in with the team to resolve challenges and keep everything running smoothly.

Requirements

Your Exciting Responsibilities Will Include:

• Leading daily yard operations, supervising all aspects of loading/unloading, sorting, and equipment use.
• Reducing downtime and ensuring a swift turnaround for incoming and outgoing trucks.
• Supporting and guiding yard employees, including drivers, operators, sorters, and laborers.
• Upholding safety standards by ensuring compliance with OSHA, EPA, and company protocols.
• Performing regular equipment inspections and coordinating maintenance to keep everything in tip-top shape.
• Collaborating closely with the General Manager to address performance, challenges, and growth opportunities.
• Operating equipment as needed, such as forklifts, skid steers, front-end loaders, and yard trucks.
• Helping to maintain a clean, safe, and efficient site for everyone!

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This role requires strong leadership and coaching skills, as you'll directly supervise a passionate team of Leads, Drivers, Equipment Operators, Maintenance Mechanics, Sorters, and Operational Support—empowering them to perform at their best!?

Experience:

• 4+ years in a yard: recycling, scrap, waste, materials sales or construction environment.
• 1+ years in a supervisory or lead role.
• Experience operating heavy equipment (forklift, skid steer, loader) strongly preferred.

Skills:

• Strong team leadership and communication skills.
• Mechanical aptitude and understanding of industrial equipment.
• Ability to problem-solve and make quick decisions in a busy environment.
• Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to speak and write in English
• Ability to speak Spanish

Education:

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Technical or trade school is a plus but not required.

Typical Physical Demands:

• Ability to operate office equipment used as needed.?
• Ability to organize various office systems/stations through adjusting, connecting, lifting, pulling, pushing, bending, or folding for the purpose of proper records development, office functions, and/or management.?
• Ability to use a computer and related devices, such as a keyboard, mouse, or other related equipment.
• Ability to climb ladders, bend, stoop, or stand for long periods of time. In addition, individuals must be able to reach above their shoulders and lift a minimum of 50 pounds.?
