Job summary

Myprimaryhealthsolutions is seeking a WIC Clerk to support the WIC program in Ohio. The role processes client data for certification and food issuance, performs WIC communications tasks, and provides general office support.

You will operate the WIC Information System, manage data entry for scheduling and reporting, and assist WIC Health Professionals as needed. The position is non-exempt with a fixed hourly rate of $18.00, and a standard schedule across weekdays.

Qualifications

  • High School graduation or equivalent.
  • Post‑secondary training up to and including Associate’s Degree preferred.
  • At least one year medical office experience required.
  • WIC experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs food issuance and triage for scheduling WIC appointments according to client risk and needs.
  • Processes client data and completes scheduling, certification, and reporting in the WIC Information System.
  • Maintains knowledge of WIC procedures and local resources; ensures files and documentation are accurate and timely.

JOB TITLE: WIC Clerk

DEPARTMENT: WIC

REPORTS TO: WIC Program Manager

STATUS: Non-Exempt

SUMMARY:

Processes client data for certification and food issuance. Performs WIC Communication Systems functions. Provides general office support.

SCHEDULE:

Monday: 7:30am-6:00pm

Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday: 8:00am-4:30pm

Friday: 7:30am-1:30pm

PAY: This position pays a flat rate of $18.00 per hour. This rate is fixed and does not increase.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

CUSTOMER SERVICE:

  • Performs food issuance.
  • Provides triage for scheduling WIC appointments according to client risk, age, transportation, other appointments and need, in compliance with WIC standards.
  • Obtains growth measurements and blood test per WIC standards.

OPERATIONS:

  • Determines residential, categorical and financial eligibility for WIC through processing state required Combined Programs Application and Referral.
  • Responsible for operation of WIC Information System including data entry for scheduling, certification, processing and daily, weekly, and monthly reports.
  • Operates WIC system communication PC and main WIC telephone.
  • Maintains/updates knowledge of WIC required procedures: Voter registration requirements per Ohio Secretary of State’s office, Immunization per Ohio Department of Health and local area social service and medical resources.
  • Assures WIC files, and all documentation are legible, complete, accurate and timely.
  • Prepares and maintains required chart records and other program statistics to meet WIC and agency requirements.
  • Coordinates with Director and professional staff in developing and conducting programs and activities to achieve program goals.
  • Travels to other county WIC clinic sites as requested to provide coverage.
  • Provides WIC outreach as requested.
  • Provides assistance to WIC Health Professionals in preparation of nutrition education materials and conducting of classes.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

High School graduation or equivalent. Post‑secondary training up to and including Associate’s Degree preferred. At least one year medical office experience required. WIC experience preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have the ability to gain knowledge of current practice management system, electronic medical record, Microsoft Word, text paging, Internet, and Intranet.
