Overview

Allison’s Earned Media Center of Excellence is an agency resource focused on earned media relations and media strategy. Team members bring outside thinking and seasoned media experience to help clients overcome market and media challenges to achieve success. The center operates across practice groups to provide industry insights, media strategy, and pitching support.

Team members will also be involved in new business development, guiding strategy, and offering media and vertical insights.

This senior-level position serves as a media strategist and agency advisor, overseeing the growth of the agency’s earned media capabilities. As a leader in the Earned Media Center of Excellence, this role will oversee junior team members in mentorship and management, with at least one direct report.

The role involves guiding and supporting agency-wide earned media execution, developing media strategies, and supporting account teams to deliver results aligned with business goals. It also includes developing scopes of work and managing client communication and counsel.

Responsibilities

  1. Recommend new ideas and lead elements of the Earned Media Center of Excellence, including Media Labs, workshops, and training sessions.
  2. Collaborate with senior teams to grow the agency’s earned media competency and skills.
  3. Develop and implement media strategies and recommendations, including complex strategies like exclusive deals, background conversations, and neutralizing negative stories.
  4. Assist in troubleshooting media challenges and pivot strategies as needed.
  5. Edit and develop media pitches for various outlets.
  6. Actively pitch and pursue media to secure earned media results, developing new story angles.
  7. Provide regular media updates to teams and clients.
  8. Share industry and media trend insights with the agency.
  9. Offer strategic counsel to clients and prospects on industry trends, challenges, and opportunities.
  10. Lead client calls and build relationships with journalists and media contacts.
  11. Manage hours and scopes proactively.
  12. Engage with client teams to identify growth opportunities.
  13. Support new business initiatives and contribute to agency marketing efforts.
  14. Partner with teams to develop training content and workshops.
  15. Participate in agency-wide training and professional development.

Qualifications

  1. Must be bilingual in Spanish and English, both written and verbal.
  2. Minimum of 9+ years of experience as a senior media specialist, director, or equivalent in PR, marketing, or related fields, focusing on earned media.
  3. Ability to work independently, managing multiple deadlines and producing high-quality deliverables.
  4. Strong media relations skills and existing media relationships.
  5. Proficiency or expertise in relevant industry knowledge.
  6. Interest in management and leadership roles.
  7. Excellent writing and editing skills.
  8. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Zoom, Teams, and media monitoring tools like Muckrack, Critical Mention, Meltwater, and Cision.
