Rowena Chess Elementary in Pasco, Washington, is seeking a Bilingual Tutor – American Sign Language (ASL) to support English and ASL learners across small groups. The position follows a 180-day calendar with 7.00/day, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday; 5.00 on Wednesdays; 4.00 on Early Release; salary between $26.22 and $28.57 per hour.

Candidates must have an AA degree (BA preferred), proficient ASL and English, and strong customer service with Deaf Education and General Education staff.

Responsibilities

• Plan lessons with supervising teacher and assist with program coordination and documentation

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• The bilingual tutor is generally responsible for direct and indirect instruction of ASL/English students in small groups as they are assigned by the staff/teacher. The tutor will be responsible for following the schedule as designated by the supervising teacher and/or administrator. The tutor instructs using a variety of instructional methods and teaching strategies. Instruction in reading, writing, and math, social and Language development in small groups will take place in various settings. The supervising teacher/administrator will assist the tutor in the planning of lessons, program coordination, and communicating with staff. The tutor may be responsible for maintaining program documentation on individual students.
