Position Overview

CMHA is seeking to hire a Therapist Assistant for our Multi-Dimensional Family Therapy (MDFT) department. This position will be located at 233 Main St., New Britain, CT 06051, with working hours Monday-Friday, 9:00 am - 5:00 pm.

Compensation Range

The salary starts at $20.00 per hour. Compensation is based on experience, education, skills, and internal pay equity, considering benefits and paid time off to offer a competitive package.

Position Summary

The Therapist Assistant/Recovery Specialist plays a key role in the MDFT treatment team, providing services to youth/young adults and parents with substance abuse and co-occurring disorders in various settings including home, office, and community.

  • Build trusting relationships with families through home visits, phone contacts, and crisis support.
  • Assist clinicians and work as part of the treatment team to support youth and families.
  • Manage an appropriate caseload, provide crisis intervention, and participate in 24/7 on-call coverage.
  • Maintain documentation and data collection related to MDFT.
  • Engage clients in treatment interventions, including clinical involvement and drug testing.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative community relationships to enhance treatment services.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in social work or human services.
  • Own transportation and valid DMV license.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish, with knowledge of Puerto Rican cultural values.
  • At least 1 year of experience working with adolescents with substance abuse or behavioral health issues.
  • Basic experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems.
