Description
- Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill district curriculum requirements, with written evidence of preparation as required.
- Prepare lessons accommodating different student learning styles.
- Present subject matter according to guidelines established by the Texas Education Agency, Board of Trustee policies, and administrative regulations.
- Establish and maintain pupil behavior standards.
- Implement a student evaluation system within the guidelines of state law or district policies.
- Evaluate and record students’ progress regularly and report to parents as needed.
- Teach the prescribed course of study for the subject and grade level.
- Plan lessons aligned with subject objectives and prepare written lesson plans for substitutes.
- Use diverse media and methods to motivate students and optimize instruction time.
- Identify student needs and collaborate with staff to address health, attitude, and learning issues.
- Be available for counseling students and parents outside class hours.
- Participate in community outreach activities such as open houses and PTA meetings.
- Coordinate work with aides, paraprofessionals, and student teachers when applicable.
- Assist the principal in developing evaluation and assessment systems.
- Maintain accurate student records and complete required reports and documentation.
- Perform any additional duties as assigned.
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance at the worksite.
Work Environment:
The noise level is usually moderate. Travel across the district is required. Remote work or alternate arrangements are not permitted for campus-based employees, as regular attendance at the worksite is essential.
Qualifications
The following are required:
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university; valid Texas teaching certificate with appropriate endorsements.
- Knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
- Ability to follow specific instructions with minimal prior experience.
- Ability to present subject matter per guidelines of the Texas Education Agency and district policies.
- Effective classroom management skills.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing circumstances.
- Willingness to stay current with professional developments.
