- Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill requirements of the district's curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation as required
- Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles
- Present subject matter according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency, Board of Trustee policies, and administrative regulations
- Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior
- Establish a system of students evaluation within the guidelines prescribed in state law or adopted by the school district
- Continuously evaluate and record various aspects of students’ progress and report to parents as needed and required
- Teach within the course of study for the subject area at the grade level as prescribed in state law or adopted by the school district
- Understand and plan lessons leading to subject area objectives and assume responsibility for written lesson plans for substitutes
- Provide a variety of planned learning experiences using various media and methods to motivate students and optimize instruction time
- Identify pupil needs and collaborate with other staff to address health, attitude, and learning issues
- Be available for counseling with students and parents before and after school
- Participate in community engagement activities such as open house and PTA meetings
- Plan and coordinate work of aides, paraprofessionals, and student teachers (if applicable)
- Work with the principal to develop evaluation and assessment systems in line with district guidelines
- Maintain accurate student records and compile all required reports and documents
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance at the worksite
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The noise level is usually moderate. Travel within the district is required. Remote work is not an option for campus-based roles due to the necessity of regular attendance and on-site duties.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university; valid Texas teacher certificate with endorsements for the assigned subject and level
- Knowledge of curriculum and instruction
- Ability to follow specific instructions with minimal prior experience
- Ability to present subject matter per TEA and district policies
- Effective classroom management skills
- Flexibility to adapt to changing environments
- Commitment to professional development
