Job summary

Healthcare Alternative Systems (HAS) in Chicago seeks a Substance Use Counselor to provide individual and group counseling, develop treatment plans, and maintain progress notes, with coordination with referral sources.

Must be bilingual English/Spanish, CADC certified, and knowledgeable in ASAM criteria, DSM-V, DHS regulations; two years of counseling experience required. Flexible schedule with early morning shifts and travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in the Social or Human Sciences of Social Work from a regionally accredited educational institution.
• CADC certification required.
• Minimum two years of counseling experience in substance abuse.
• Knowledge of ASAM criteria and DSM-V diagnosis.
• Knowledge of DHS regulations (2060/2090) and CARF.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual and group counseling to participants, including presenting educational lectures and leading process groups.
• Formulate, review and monitor individualized treatment plans; maintain progress notes.
• Conduct assessments using ASAM criteria and perform DUI services and drug tests as needed.
• Maintain and review clinical records, discharge plans, and progress reports; coordinate with referral sources.
• Participate in weekly clinical staffing and prepare weekly reports for the Program Manager.
