Job summary

Plano ISD is seeking an Assistant Special Education - Bilingual (Connect) to support students with disabilities on campus. The role reports to teaching staff and works under the supervision of a certified teacher, contributing to instructional setup, IEP coordination, and student safety.

The ideal candidate will be fluent in Spanish, team-oriented, and capable of assisting with physical and personal care needs, behavior support, and daily classroom operations.

Qualifications

• Education/Certification requirement: High school diploma or equivalency.
• Special Knowledge/Skills: Ability to read and speak Spanish fluently; willingness to be a positive team member; ability to work with children with disabilities.

Responsibilities

• Assist the teacher(s) in preparation of student work, workstations, and classroom displays.
• Liaison between regular education and special education teacher(s) on student IEPs, modifications and adaptations of curriculum.
• Adjust on-the-spot instruction and provide daily feedback on student progress.
• Assist students with physical disabilities including transferring to/from wheelchairs and positioning.
• Support personal care tasks including feeding, bathroom needs, and hygiene.
• Assist in managing behavior and crisis interventions as needed.
• Supervise students inside and outside the classroom (lunchroom, bus duty, playground).
• Prepare administrative records and required reports; assist substitute teachers.
