Job summary

Children's Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) provides a role for bilingual interpreters to facilitate medical communications and translate patient-facing materials. The position requires healthcare interpreting experience and certification alignment with CCHI or ATA where applicable.

You will collaborate with the care team, training new interpreters and ensuring confidentiality across patient encounters. Ideal candidates hold a 40-hour healthcare interpreter credential, and prefer a bachelor’s degree.

Qualifications

• Spanish–English interpreting and translation in a healthcare setting is required.
• 2+ years' healthcare interpreting/translation experience.
• Proficient in English and Spanish (written and spoken).
• Ability to translate medical terminology.
• Experience interpreting with patients across developmental/educational levels.

Responsibilities

• Provide interpreting services to facilitate communication between speakers of different languages.
• Provide written translations of medical instructions, medication schedules, and hospital communications.
• Collaborate with the healthcare team in care delivery.
• Assist with on-the-job training and orientation of new interpreters.
• Uphold patient confidentiality and informed consent policies.
