Job summary

Children's Hospital Los Angeles is seeking a Language and Culture Specialist II to provide Spanish interpretation and written translation in a fast-paced clinical setting. Under supervision, you will facilitate communication between patients, families and clinicians, and ensure confidentiality.

Requires 2+ years interpreting in healthcare, English/Spanish proficiency, and completion of a 40-hour Healthcare Interpreter training; applicable certifications preferred.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of interpreting and translating in a healthcare setting
• Competency in written and verbal English and Spanish
• Ability to translate and interpret medical terminology
• Experience interpreting with patients across developmental and educational levels

Responsibilities

• Provide interpreting services in a culturally sensitive manner to facilitate communication between patients, families and clinicians
• Provide written translations of medical instructions and hospital communications as required
• Collaborate with health care team and maintain patient confidentiality and informed consent
• Assist with on-the-job training and orientation of new staff interpreters
