The successful candidate will screen patients for Medicaid eligibility and collaborate with billing and other departments to ensure accurate and timely processing of applications. A minimum 2 years Medicaid background is preferred; a High School Diploma or equivalent is required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of 2 years Medicaid background. Billing background preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Screens patients to determine eligibility for Medicaid or other programs.
• Performs other duties as assigned by billing supervisor or billing director.
• Interacts with patients and staff to facilitate patient flow and resolve issues.
• Performs general office duties such as filing, answering telephones, and typing.
• Assesses patient ability to communicate in English and arranges interpreters as needed.
• Contacts patients with incomplete applications to obtain missing information.
• Fills out simplified or community applications.
• Maintains follow-up status on all applications.
• Sets appointments for patients to return with required documentation.
• Authorized to approve prescriptions for patients with pending Medicaid or lost cards.
