Newark Board of Education invites qualified applicants for the School Nurse position in the Office of Health Services. The role includes developing student health records, conducting screenings, emergency care, counseling, and immunization review within a dynamic educational setting.

Required: NJ DOE certificate or emergency license, Bachelor's degree, NJ RN license, and bilingual ability with English; five years' RN experience preferred. Multilingual candidates are a plus.

Competenze

• NJDOE Standard Certificate or eligible for Emergency license as deemed necessary by NJDOE certs and titles.
• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.
• Current New Jersey registered professional nurse license issued by the NJ State Board of Nursing.
• Preferred minimum of five (5) years successful experience as a registered nurse.
• Bilingual and able to read, write and speak English; Spanish/ Portuguese/ French Creole is a plus.

Mansioni

• Develop a comprehensive health record on each new student that registers for school including health history.
• Perform routine screenings of vision and hearing, weighing and measuring, and blood pressure and dental checks; refer when needed.
• Interpret findings to parents, teachers and child to promote health responsibility.
• Provide emergency medical care for all employees and arrange follow-up as needed.
• Counsel parents, teachers and students on medical information; inform staff on signs of diseases.
• Conduct tuberculin screening programs on staff and students.
• Review medical records annually for immunization status as required by law.
• Contribute to health education programs and act as health resource in the school.
• Inform the child study team of medical findings to aid in placement and achievement.
• Assist in planning and maintaining a safe and healthy school environment.
• Collaborate with community agencies on family health matters.
• Dispense physician-prescribed medications per guidelines; provide nursing care as needed.
• Serve on committees; perform duties per NJ Nurse Practice Act.
