Qualifications

• Must complete 6-hour Interpreter Training class or college level interpretation program.
• Speak, read and write fluently in indicated language and English.
• Remain consistent, calm and fair under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual or small group verbal language support (interpretation) for students, families, and staff.
• Assist students, families, and teachers to communicate academic achievement.
• Provide interpretation at student-parent-teacher conferences and community meetings.

Skills

Fluency in English and indicated language

Understanding of school terms and vocabulary

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Ability to explain cultural concepts
