Job summary

Family Service Association of Greater Elgin in Elgin, IL, is seeking a Bilingual School-Based Mental Health Therapist (English/Spanish) to provide direct clinical services to students, families, and schools, maintaining an active caseload and meeting productivity expectations.

The role requires a Master’s degree in psychology, social work, or related field, Spanish bilingualism, and strong collaboration with school staff and community partners to support positive outcomes.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in psychology, Social Work, Licensed Professional Counselor, or related field is required.
• Bilingual in Spanish is required.
• Ability to work with people from every diverse background and show cultural competency is a must.
• Experience working in community counseling related services and working with children and adolescents with mental health needs is desired.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual therapy and group therapy to students that promote personal growth through emotional, cognitive, behavioral, and/or psychological changes.
• Collaborating with the school personnel regarding individual treatment plans and outcomes.
• Working with the student's family/guardian, including securing releases to consult with school personnel or other contacts.
• Responding to emergencies/crises and partnering with the SASS program as needed.
• Collaborating and coordinating with partnering community agencies to provide support services and care coordination.
• Meeting quarterly with school personnel to review outcomes and prepare quarterly reports.
• Provide case management and care coordination, including referrals and discharge planning.
• Educating the community about the School-Based Mental Health Program and facilitating networking with community providers.
• Maintain IM+CANS Certification and related trainings.
• Meet weekly appointment expectations and participate in supervision and clinical meetings.
