Job summary

FITS, LLC in Puerto Rico is seeking a Safety Coordinator to support Health and Safety activities across engineering and construction projects. You will generate, review, and monitor daily work permits to ensure site safety and regulatory compliance.

The role includes reviewing Safety Plans, assisting with safety reports and recordkeeping, coordinating New Hire Orientation for contractors, and promoting safe work practices on site to protect workers and equipment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Engineering, Environmental Sciences, or a related field.
• Bilingual in Spanish and English.
• Good organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work in a project-oriented environment and interact effectively with contractors and cross-functional teams.
• OSHA 30-hour Certification (General Industry or Construction).
• Experience in Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE/EHS) programs.
• Daily Work Permit generation and tracking.
• Contractor Safety Management.
• Safety Plans review and compliance monitoring.
• Documentation, reporting, and record management.
• Construction and/or engineering projects.

Responsibilities

• Support Health and Safety activities across engineering and construction projects.
• Generate, review, and monitor daily work permits to ensure compliance with site safety requirements.
• Review Safety Plans and verify adherence to applicable procedures, regulations, and company standards.
• Assist with safety-related reports, documentation, and recordkeeping activities.
• Coordinate New Hire Orientation (NHO) and safety onboarding activities for contractors.
• Support contractor compliance efforts by ensuring required safety documentation is current and complete.
• Participate in project safety meetings and provide administrative support for safety initiatives.
• Maintain accurate records of permits, training, inspections, and contractor documentation.
• Support field activities by promoting safe work practices and identifying potential safety concerns.
• Collaborate with project teams to ensure Health and Safety requirements are integrated into daily operations.
