Position Summary
ThePre-weighing Technician at Cosco International Inc. is responsible for weighing, labeling, verifying, and staging raw materials for use in Cosmetic, OTC Drug, and Medical Device product manufacturing. This position ensures that all weighing operations are performed accurately, documented properly, and compliant with GMP, ISO 9001 / ISO 22716, and FDA 21 CFR 210/211 requirements.
The Weighing Technician works under the supervision of the Compoundinging Lead and Compounding Supervisor to ensure that all materials are verified, double-signed, and delivered to the compounding area ready for use, while maintaining strict cleanliness, organization, and traceability within the pre-weigh room.
Core Responsibilities
1. Raw Material Weighing & Dispensing
- Weigh raw materials according to the Master Batch Record (MBR), Bill of Materials (BOM), and pick list generated in the ERP system.
- Confirm that the correct material name, lot number, expiration date, and quantity are being used.
- Accurately measure and dispense materials following standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Label all pre-weighed containers with:
- Product name
- Material name and lot number
- Batch or formula number
- Weigher and verifier signatures
- Ensure double signature verification is completed for each ingredient before transferring to compounding.
2. ERP System & Documentation
- Record material weights and lot numbers in the ERP system for accurate batch tracking.
- Maintain accurate paper and electronic records for all weighing activities, ensuring full traceability.
- Follow Good Documentation Practices (GDP) — all entries must include date, initials/signature, and corrections made properly.
- Review completed weigh tickets for accuracy before submitting to the Weighing Lead.
- File and organize all batch records and weigh tickets in a GMP-compliant manner.
- Cross-check each raw material against the BOM and batch sheet to ensure the correct item and quantity are used.
- Verify all materials are released by QA and labeled with proper status tags before weighing.
- Maintain traceability of all materials from warehouse issuance to compounding transfer.
- Return unused or partial materials to the warehouse with correct weights, lot numbers, and bin locations.
- Actively participates in inventory counts and reconciliation tasks.
- Ensure proper reconciliation of all used and returned materials to prevent inventory discrepancies.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and contamination-free weighing environment at all times.
- Ensure all scales, utensils, scoops, and containers are cleaned and calibrated before use.
- Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and ISO 22716 standards in all weighing and handling activities.
- Keep pre-weigh areas and surfaces free from dust, spills, and clutter.
- Clean and sanitize equipment, weighing benches, and containers after each batch.
- Ensure materials are segregated to prevent mix-ups or cross-contamination.
5. Safety & Environmental Practices
- Follow all EHS (Environmental, Health & Safety) procedures, including use of proper PPE, chemical handling, and spill containment.
- Understand and follow Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for all chemicals handled.
- Report any unsafe conditions, equipment malfunctions, or incidents to the Weighing Lead immediately.
- Properly label and dispose of waste materials in accordance with safety and environmental regulations.
6. Equipment Care & Calibration
- Verify scales, balances, and measuring instruments are calibrated and within tolerance before use.
- Record calibration checks and cleaning activities in equipment logbooks.
- Report damaged or malfunctioning equipment to the Weighing Lead for repair or replacement.
- Assist in maintaining weighing room equipment to ensure operational reliability.
- Perform scale calibration verification, cooler temperature and Hot box temperature record.
7. Coordination & Teamwork
- Work closely with the Weighing Lead to prioritize daily production requirements.
- Communicate any discrepancies in materials, quantities, or batch instructions immediately.
- Coordinate with Warehouse, Compounding, and QA to ensure smooth material flow and batch readiness.
- Support other Technicians in completing weighing tasks during high-volume production periods.
- Participate in training and continuous improvement activities within the department.
- Suggest improvements for weighing accuracy, process efficiency, or documentation control.
- Assist with 5S and Lean Manufacturing initiatives to improve workspace organization and workflow.
- Participate in cross-training for basic compounding tasks to enhance flexibility and departmental support.

Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification in manufacturing, chemistry, or related field preferred.
- Minimum 1–3 years of experience in a manufacturing or GMP-regulated environment (cosmetics, OTC, or medical device industry preferred).
- Knowledge of GMP, ISO 22716, and FDA 21 CFR 210/211 manufacturing standards.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in weighing and documentation.
- Ability to read and interpret batch records and ERP pick lists.
- Basic computer skills, including familiarity with ERP or inventory management systems.
- Good organizational, communication, and teamwork abilities.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for long periods.
