Job Overview
Universal Beauty Products is seeking an experienced Batching (Compounding) Supervisor to lead the daily operations of the Compounding Department. This position is responsible for ensuring cosmetic products are manufactured safely, efficiently, and in compliance with FDA Cosmetic GMPs, ISO 22716, customer requirements, and company quality standards.
The Compounding Supervisor provides leadership to Compounding Technicians and Pre-Weigh Associates while driving safety, quality, productivity, and continuous improvement.
Duties
- Lead daily compounding and batching operations to meet production schedules, quality standards, and customer requirements.
- Ensure all products are manufactured according to approved formulations, batch records, SOPs, FDA Cosmetic GMPs, ISO 22716, and company policies.
- Supervise, coach, train, and develop Compounding Technicians and Pre-Weigh associates while maintaining clear expectations for safety, quality, attendance, and productivity.
- Coordinate with Planning, Quality, Warehouse, Packaging, and Maintenance to support workflow, resolve issues, and minimize downtime.
- Review batch documentation, material traceability, equipment cleanliness, and Good Documentation Practices to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Promote a safe, accountable, and team-oriented work environment through routine safety observations, proper PPE use, and prompt follow-up on unsafe conditions.
- Monitor key performance indicators, including safety, Right First Time, schedule attainment, batch yield, labor efficiency, downtime, and inventory accuracy.
- Support audits, investigations, CAPAs, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen department performance.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in factory or manufacturing facility environments with hands-on compounding and pre-weigh exposure, minimum 5 years.
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's degree or technical training preferred.
- Experience in cosmetics, personal care, food, pharmaceutical, or other regulated manufacturing environments is preferred.
- 1-2 years of demonstrated ability to manage production or compounding teams effectively while fostering teamwork and accountability
- Knowledge of safety standards in production environments, including safety protocol adherence and risk mitigation strategies, experience in handling raw chemicals, reading safety data sheets (SDS) and enforcing strict PPE.
- Experience with process improvement methodologies such as lean manufacturing or continuous improvement initiatives
- Ability to perform manual handling tasks safely, including heavy lifting when necessary
- Familiarity with warehouse operations and inventory management practices is advantageous
- Understanding of PPLH and other manufacturing KPI's. Ability to interpret production schedules, work instructions and quality documentation.
- Excellent mathematical and calculating skills for converting metric units, computing raw materials mass, and modifying batch record sizes.
- Computer proficiency required, Microsoft Office, SAP or ERP experience preferred.
