Job summary

Broward County Public Schools is seeking a TEACHER ASSISTANT-BILINGUAL / PORTUGUESE at NORCREST ELEMENTARY in Pompano Beach. The role focuses on bilingual instructional support, translation, and ESOL-related activities to enhance learning for multilingual students.

The position requires completion of the Teacher Assisting Curriculum, passing ParaPro or equivalent, and the ability to work with English Language Learners in a diverse classroom environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Complete Teacher Assisting Curriculum and pass ParaPro or equivalent.
• Ability to read/write English and language of target ELL population.
• Computer skills and ability to work with students from diverse backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Provide academic assistance to students in home language or English as directed by the teacher.
• Confer with teachers on programs/materials to meet student needs.
• Assist with ESOL testing and record keeping; translate for non-English speaking parents.
• Assist with ESOL Parent Advisory Councils and interpreter duties.
• Support other non-instructional tasks under supervision and follow district policies.
