Job summary

Ideal candidates will have a High School diploma, completed phlebotomy training, strong communication skills, and bilingual English/Spanish abilities. Evening or weekend availability and a professional demeanor are expected.

This role requires compassionate interaction with patients and families and adherence to privacy and safety policies.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of Phlebotomy Training program required.
• Good written and verbal communication skills required.
• Some evening or weekend work will be required
• Bilingual – English/Spanish.

Responsibilities

• Promotes the facility mission, vision and values by effectively communicating them to others.
• Able to perform venous, arterial, capillary draws on adult and pediatric/neonatal patients as per procedure and without supervision.
• Identifies patients and labels all tubes, as per policy, without mislabeling
• Draws the correct amount and in the correct tubes/preserves specimens as needed to minimize redraws
• Draws and delivers blood to the lab in a timely manner
• Follows through on collections that have been re-scheduled
• Responds to patient codes as necessary.
• Selects appropriate type of needle based on patient’s physical needs and/or age
