Job summary

American Pediatric Dental Group is seeking a skilled Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) to support pediatric dentists, prepare treatment rooms, maintain infection control, and assist with restorations, impressions, sealants, and X-rays.

The role requires a high school diploma and EFDA/EDDA certification, Dental Radiology, CPR, and Nitrous Oxide certification. Pediatric experience and bilingual skills are a plus. You will contribute to a kid-friendly team delivering exceptional care.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Current EFDA/EDDA certification as required by state regulations.
  • Dental Radiology (X-Ray) Certification.
  • Nitrous Oxide Certification (if required by state).
  • Current CPR Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Assist dentists during pediatric dental procedures, including restorative and surgical cases.
  • Prepare treatment rooms, instruments, and materials for patient care.
  • Maintain infection control and sterilization standards.
  • Ensure treatment rooms are clean, organized, and fully stocked.
  • Perform expanded duties as permitted by state regulations (e.g., restorations, impressions, sealants, X-rays).
  • Welcome and prepare patients for treatment; educate patients and parents on oral hygiene.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and assist with scheduling.

Job Summary

American Pediatric Dental Group is seeking a skilled, compassionate, and patient-focused Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) to join our growing pediatric dental team. As an EFDA, you'll play an essential role in creating positive dental experiences for children while supporting our doctors in delivering exceptional clinical care. We're looking for someone who enjoys working with kids, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and takes pride in providing outstanding patient care.

Schedule
  • Monday: 9:30 AM – 1:30 PM | 2:30 PM – 6:30 PM
  • Tuesday: 8:30 AM – 1:00 PM | 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM
  • Wednesday: 8:30 AM – 1:00 PM | 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM
  • Thursday: 9:30 AM – 1:30 PM | 2:30 PM – 6:30 PM
  • Friday: 8:30 AM – 1:00 PM | 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM
  • Saturday: 8:30 AM – 1:00 PM
What You'll Do
Clinical Support
  • Assist dentists during restorative, surgical, and other pediatric dental procedures.
  • Prepare treatment rooms, instruments, and materials for patient care.
  • Maintain infection control and sterilization standards.
  • Ensure treatment rooms are clean, organized, and fully stocked.
Expanded Functions
  • Perform expanded duties as permitted by state regulations, including:
    • Placing and contouring restorations.
    • Taking impressions.
    • Applying sealants.
    • Taking dental radiographs (X-rays).
    • Assisting with patient charting and clinical documentation.
Patient Care
  • Welcome and prepare patients for treatment.
  • Help children feel comfortable and at ease throughout their visit.
  • Educate patients and parents on proper oral hygiene and post-treatment instructions.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service to every patient and family.
Office Support
  • Maintain accurate patient records.
  • Assist with scheduling and appointment confirmations when needed.
  • Monitor and help maintain dental supply inventory.
Qualifications
Required
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Current Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA/EDDA) certification as required by state regulations.
  • Dental Radiology (X-Ray) Certification.
  • Nitrous Oxide Certification (if required by state).
  • Current CPR Certification.
Preferred
  • Pediatric dental experience.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English).
  • Experience working in a dental or healthcare environment.
