Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Typing 40 wpm preferred.
• Knowledge of office organization and basic clerical skills preferred.
• Previous admissions or patient accounting experience preferred.
• Knowledge of insurance payer preferred.
• Medical terminology preferred.
• PC literacy and basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Interviews patients or representative to obtain complete demographic and financial information for admission.
• Verifies insurance coverage and obtains prior authorizations within required periods.
• Assist with administrative needs of patient/family: explain charges and payment options.
• Perform cashier functions and balance cash at end of shift.
• Prepare batching for Data Processing and use IT systems efficiently.
• Operate MMHS telephone switchboard and communicate clearly in English/Spanish.
• Respond to changes in schedule and perform related duties as assigned.
