Job summary

South Texas Health System is seeking a front desk registration associate to interview patients or guardians, collect demographics, verify benefits, and determine eligibility for hospital admission. You will obtain signatures for payment responsibility and handle calls, supply orders, and correspondence as requested.

Ideal candidates have 1–2 years in healthcare business office, strong customer service, and bilingual English/Spanish communication. CPI training within 6 months of hire is required.

Qualifications

• One to two years of medical/healthcare business office experience preferred.
• Excellent customer service skills are required.
• Computer skills required.
• Good verbal communication skills in English/Spanish required.

Responsibilities

• Performs patient registration functions by interviewing patient or responsible party to obtain identification and demographic information.
• Verifies insurance/other payer benefits and performs up front collections.
• Determines eligibility and arranges for admission of patients to hospital following policies and procedures.
• Obtains signatures of individuals responsible for payment and explains hospital financial obligation.
• Answers the telephone and directs calls accordingly.
• Assist with ordering office supplies as needed/requested.
• Assist in preparing letters and sending correspondence as requested.
