Job summary

Second Mile Education seeks a Parent Liaison to bridge school and families, ensuring effective two-way communication and support for ESOL parents. You will translate materials, provide interpretation at conferences, and assist with home visits to boost enrollment and retention.

Ideal candidates are bilingual, have strong communication skills, and can coordinate with staff to expand family involvement in events and programs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required; an Associate's degree is preferred.
• Must be available for some evenings and weekends for events.
• Strong knowledge of general office and telephone equipment.
• Proficient with Microsoft Windows, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; strong word processing skills.
• Bilingual in local languages and customer service experience preferred.
• MIS familiarity is a plus.
• Experience in a school setting with at-risk youth is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Effectively facilitate communication between home and school by providing families with information and support.
• Translate materials and conduct regular calls to inform non-English speaking populations.
• Provide interpretation services during parent/teacher conferences and school meetings.
• Assist staff with home visits to increase retention and engagement.
• Collect and communicate parent input and concerns to the appropriate staff.
• Maintain accurate student records and document parent communications in records.
• Collaborate with staff to create opportunities for parent involvement in school events.
