Job summary

Salud Para La Gente, Inc. is seeking an organized Optician to assist the Optometrist, obtain medical and ocular history, read prescriptions, and help fit glasses and contacts in Watsonville, CA.

You will maintain optical equipment, prepare orders for lenses, educate patients on lens care, and help manage patient flow and clinic operations. Requirements include one year in a healthcare clinic, high school diploma and bilingual Spanish/English, CPR certification.

Qualifications

• One year of experience in a healthcare clinic setting.
• High school graduate.
• Bilingual Spanish/English.
• Valid CA driver’s license and current vehicle insurance.
• Current CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Interprets prescriptions written by ophthalmologists and optometrists.
• Collects eye measurements including corneal width and thickness.
• Assists patients with eyeglass and lens treatments including tints and coatings.
• Creates work orders for lab technicians to ensure proper lens delivery.
• Adjusts eyeglasses for proper fit and repairs frames.
• Educates clients on eyeglass and contact lens care.
• Assists with patient history intake and OCT-related procedures.
• Assists with follow-up instructions and appointments.
• Monitors patient flow and referrals in clinic.
• Supports scheduling and patient communication.
