Job summary

New Mexico Department of Health WIC Program is seeking a Nutrition Education Specialist to screen applicants for eligibility, assess nutritional risk, prescribe food packages, and provide nutrition education and breastfeeding support. The role includes data entry, records management, and coordinating with community partners.

Ideal candidates will be fluent in English and Spanish, have a related Bachelor's degree, and possess experience with nutrition services and program guidelines.

Qualifications

• Fluency in English and Spanish.
• Experience entering/retrieving data in multiple information systems including WIC AD System.
• Provide/direct nutrition services per program guidelines and manage records.

Responsibilities

• Screen applicants to determine eligibility by income, residency and nutrition risk.
• Prescribe food packages and provide nutrition education including breastfeeding support.
• Assess hemoglobin and anthropometrics; provide breastfeeding education.
• Provide client services and maintain confidentiality; assist in outreach.
• Coordinate with community organizations and other health programs.
