Job summary

The New Mexico Department of Health, via the WIC Program, seeks a nutrition services coordinator to screen applicants, determine eligibility, and prescribe food packages for nutritionally at-risk women, infants, and children. Ideal candidates are bilingual in English and Spanish, have a related bachelor's degree, and experience in nutrition services, data entry, and program coordination.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a social, community, health, education, or nutritional field with two years of relevant experience; six years may substitute.
• Experience in nutrition services, counseling, and client education per program guidelines.
• Ability to work with diverse populations and coordinate with community resources.

Responsibilities

• Screen applicants to determine eligibility based on income, residency and nutritional risk.
• Prescribe food packages and provide individual or group nutrition education including breastfeeding support.
• Refer participants to health and social services and follow up on referrals.
• Maintain WIC program operations, document nutrition risks, and assist with outreach and education.
