Job summary

Sylvania is seeking a multilingual paraeducator and ML student advocate to provide instructional support in English Development and content area classes. The role focuses on assisting multilingual students, coordinating with teachers, and guiding families to support student success.

The position emphasizes collaboration, confidentiality, and flexibility to work varied hours, with a focus on equity and positive relationships across students, staff, and the community.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or 72 quarter credits (100 level or above) or have passed the ETS Para-Pro Assessment.
• Fluent English and Spanish reading, writing and speaking.
• Experience with technology and Microsoft Office.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Flexibility to work varied hours.
• Multicultural experience and expertise required.

Responsibilities

• Addresses multilingual student needs including those with interrupted education or trauma.
• Meets needs of long-term multilingual students including college counseling and post-high school planning.
• Meets with multilingual students to consult, check grades, and address language needs.
• Supports district efforts to improve academic achievement for all students.
• Collaborates with teachers on best practices for multilingual learners.
• Communicates with families, staff and community to build relationships.
• Attends events to facilitate open dialogue with all parties.
