Position Summary :
Provide information on credit union portfolio mortgage products and services to members according to all credit union policies and procedures, and Federal and State rules and regulations. Collate and analyze individual financial information in support of loan decisioning process. Evaluate and recommend loan approvals, denials, and counteroffers based upon individual circumstances and data. Process required forms and related documentation for mortgage loan products. Promote credit union products and services. Partner to approve or deny loan applications based on analysis and company mortgage policies. Work with mortgage support staff to ensure timely response to member inquiries and maintain service excellence.
Duties and Responsibilities :
- Interview mortgage loan applicants and assist members in completing loan applications over the phone and/or electronically.
- Collate, analyze, and evaluate information & documentation supporting loan applications.
- Evaluate borrower character, collateral, capacity to repay, and credit position based on individual circumstances.
- Calculate debt-to-income ratios, collateral needs, and payment plans.
- Communicate with members, applicants, and creditors to resolve questions regarding application information.
- Promote and sell MCU’s services by visiting community and business contacts.
- Provide information on mortgage loan products tailored to members’ needs.
- Recommend loan structures, pricing, terms, and amounts for individual borrowers.
- Decide on loan approvals, denials, counteroffers, and deviations from standard structures.
- Prepare complete and accurate loan documentation for underwriting and processing. Manage the loan closing process.
- Advise members on asset purchase, credit management, budgeting, debt restructuring, and financial planning.
- Notify applicants of loan decisions and commitments.
- Review regulations related to installment loan security agreements.
- Assist members with loan payment arrangements.
- Solicit loan applications and network to promote mortgage business growth.
- Collaborate with staff to develop additional lending and deposit opportunities.
- Coordinate with other departments to ensure proper process adherence and record keeping.

- Promote other Marine Enterprise products and services.
- Provide exceptional member service.
- Follow all policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Build relationships to meet goals.
- Assist members and the public through the loan process, educating as needed.
- Ensure complete and accurate loan documentation.
- Manage risk through diligent information gathering.
- Provide timely feedback on loan status.
- Perform prospect and delinquency calls to meet goals.
- Have transportation available for off-site appointments.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
- Knowledge of mortgage loan application process and consumer credit.
- Ability to analyze financial information and make recommendations.
- Strong communication and rapport-building skills.
- Proficiency in PC computing, MS-Office, and loan software.
- Problem-solving skills and ability to build trust.
- Previous consumer lending experience preferred.
Education and Experience :
- High School Diploma required; college degree in Business, Marketing, Sales, or Finance preferred.
- Experience in data gathering, financial analysis, and product recommendations.
- Experience in community networking and customer service environment.
- Track record of meeting business goals.
