Job description

Key Responsibilities

  1. Answer the telephone in a courteous and professional manner.
  2. Receive and convey messages in writing, verbally, and electronically.
  3. Liaise with patients and their families in a compassionate manner; liaise with GPs, other health professionals, and their staff.
  4. Make appointments.
  5. Scan and file documents.
  6. Type documents as required, with a high level of accuracy.
  7. Book and organize staff and/or doctors’ meetings as directed.
  8. Participate in ongoing professional development.
  9. Contribute equitably to maintaining the cleanliness of the practice.
  10. Maintain practice dress standards; handle cash, EFTPOS, and other payments and adhere to practice billing policy.
  11. Ensure the practice building and rooms are clean, tidy, and accessible.
  12. Perform other administrative duties as directed by the Practice Manager or Principal Doctor/s.

Qualifications:

  1. Previous experience in the use of practice software.
  2. Working knowledge of windows-based software systems (e.g., Word and Excel).
  3. An understanding of the Medicare Benefits Schedule.
  4. An understanding of medical terminology, medical and health professional organizations, and relevant stakeholders.
  5. An understanding or experience in general practice.
