Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Health is seeking a Language Services Associate Interpreter to support non-English speaking patients by providing accurate interpreting services during admissions, registration and clinical interactions.

The role requires fluent English and another language, a medical interpreter certificate, and strong communication skills. The position offers a rotating schedule and comprehensive benefits, with a starting hourly pay of $23.13.

Qualifications

• High School diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Ability to speak & write in English and another language fluently.
• Certification or qualification in medical interpreter training.
• Knowledge of cultural factors that affect communication.
• Teamwork with customer service orientation.
• Rotating schedule including weekends/holidays.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Suite.

Responsibilities

• Assists patients, families and providers to engage in open communication.
• Provides accurate oral interpretation services for non-English speaking patients and families.
• Maintains confidentiality and demonstrates non-bias behavior.
• Communicates with patients, families, providers and staff with clarity and respect.
• Works under pressure with diverse team members and patients.
• Supports the clinical team to bridge linguistic and cultural barriers.
