Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Health is seeking a Language Services Associate Interpreter to bridge language and cultural gaps for patients and families, primarily supporting admissions, registration, and clinical teams. You will provide accurate oral interpretation for non-English speakers, maintain confidentiality, and collaborate with staff to ensure clear communication and safe patient care.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED and medical interpreter training; rotating shifts may include

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• Ability to speak and write in English and another language fluently.
• Certification or qualification in medical interpreter training.
• Knowledge of cultural and perceptual factors affecting communication.
• Teamwork oriented with strong customer service.
• Rotating schedule that may include weekends/holidays.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients, families, and providers to engage in clear communication.
• Provide accurate oral interpretation for non-English speaking patients and families.
• Communicate clearly, courteously, and responsibly with patients, families, providers, staff and visitors.
• Maintain confidentiality and impartial behavior.
• Follow standards of interpretative process and departmental policies.
• Support patient movement through the hospital system.
