Job summary

Akron Children's Hospital seeks a PRN Medical Interpreter to facilitate cross-cultural communication daily, both orally and in writing, between patients, families, medical providers and staff. The role supports linguistically and culturally appropriate clinical care and requires preferably 1–2 years of interpreting experience.

The position emphasizes proficiency in MS Office and a formal interpreter training program. Certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience preferred.
• Certification: Passing medical interpreter training program required; national certification preferred.
• Experience: 1–2 years of relevant experience preferred.
• Supervision experience: None.

Responsibilities

• Provide language interpretation and translation between target language and English per industry standards.
• Assist staff in delivering linguistically and culturally appropriate clinical services to patients and families.
• Demonstrate ability to address care needs across physical, psychological, social, educational, and safety dimensions of patients.
• Perform other duties as required.
