Job summary

Akron Children's is seeking a Medical Interpreter to facilitate daily cross-cultural communication between patients, families, medical providers and hospital staff.

The role is PRN on-site in Akron and surrounding areas; you must be fluent in Nepali and capable of oral and written translation, with medical interpreting certification preferred. Experience in healthcare and MS Office proficiency are valued.

Qualifications

• Fluent in Nepali with proficient English.
• 1–2 years of medical interpreting experience.
• High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Certification: passing medical interpreter training; national credential preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides language interpretation and translation services between Nepali-speaking patients and English speakers per industry standards.
• Assists staff in delivering linguistically and culturally appropriate clinical services.
• Interprets across medical, psychosocial, educational and safety needs for patients and families.
• Other duties as required.
