Legacy Community Health in Houston seeks a bilingual Medical Assistant for a school-based health program. You will support registration, triage, and patient care within a mission-driven team dedicated to student health and family well-being.

Qualifications

• Bilingual English/Spanish required.
• Some medical knowledge helpful and beneficial.
• Completion of Medical Assisting program at an accredited school preferred.
• Certification as a Medical Assistant is preferred.
• Must maintain Basic Life Support (BLS)/CPR certification.
• Proficiency in using electronic medical record software.
• Ability to multitask and manage deadlines.
• Ability to communicate with students, parents, and staff from diverse backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and create patient accounts and records in the EMR with accuracy and confidentiality.
• Verify and update demographic and insurance information for patients.
• Review provider schedules and ensure records are current.
• Screen financial and demographic information; refer to eligibility coordinators as needed.
• Complete paperwork and follow appointment procedures as directed.
• Answer calls, route them appropriately, and provide excellent customer service.
• Assist nurse practitioners with patient registration, triage, vitals, and education.
• Participate in clinic development and performance improvement initiatives.
• Engage in public health education and community outreach activities.
• Document all patient care promptly and accurately.
