Job summary

The Lakes Home Care, Inc. is seeking a Medical Assistant to support clinical and administrative operations within a Florida home health agency. You will assist nurses, therapists, and physicians while ensuring quality patient care, regulatory compliance, and accurate documentation.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.
• Medical Assistant Certification (CMA or RMA) preferred.
• Bilingual English and Spanish required or strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid and home health processes preferred.
• Experience with EMR systems.

Responsibilities

• Assist RNs, LPNs, and therapists with patient coordination.
• Take and record vital signs when permitted.
• Prepare patients for skilled visits and procedures.
• Perform basic clinical tasks within Florida scope of practice.
• Maintain infection control and safety standards.
• Schedule patient visits and coordinate clinician calendars.
• Verify insurance, authorizations, and eligibility (Medicare/Medicaid/Managed Care).
• Maintain accurate Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and documentation.
• Assist with intake, consents, and patient documentation.
• Communicate with physicians’ offices for orders and signatures.
• Handle phone calls professionally with patients, families, and providers.
• Support compliance with HIPAA and Medicare guidelines.
