Job summary

QuEra Computing Japan seeks a hands-on Mechanical Engineer to own hardware design and assembly for quantum computer systems on-site in Tsukuba, Japan. You will create CAD models, prepare drawings, and work with suppliers and contract manufacturers to ensure manufacturability and reliability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 5 years of professional experience in mechanical design with hands-on build/installation exposure.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD (Autodesk Inventor) and Vault.
• Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.
• Experience with machine shops and contract manufacturers.
• Practical electrical skills: soldering, wiring, multimeter.

Responsibilities

• Create 3D CAD models and 2D drawings using Autodesk Inventor and Vault.
• Design parts, brackets, enclosures, and assemblies with manufacturability in mind (DfM/DfA).
• Specify, procure, and prepare prototypes; assist with testing and validation.
• Produce and maintain design documentation: requirements, drawings, assembly instructions, test reports.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure performance and manufacturability.
• Inspect, assemble, install, and maintain quantum computer modules on site in Japan.
• Interface with Japanese suppliers and contract manufacturers on specs, manufacturability, and timelines.
