Job summary

The Marine Mammal Center in Marin Headlands, Sausalito, California, is seeking a Marine Science Educator to lead school tours and youth programs. The role requires delivering content in both English and Spanish, and organizing logistics for activities with a focus on safety and high-quality learning experiences.

The position is full-time and onsite with weekend requirements and some travel. Evening hours may be needed, and compensation includes a bilingual differential.

Qualifications

• Ability to obtain clearance via livescan fingerprinting to work with students.
• TB test per state requirements and any other medical exams as required.
• Valid driver license with acceptable driving record; 21+ for company vehicle use.

Responsibilities

• Delivers marine science content to audiences from 4th grade to adults with excellent customer service.
• Cross-trains on all programs and provides docent coverage and tours when needed.
• Builds relationships with teachers, nonprofits, and community partners; collaborates with Center teams.
• Delivers programs in Spanish and translates content as needed.
• Coordinates scheduling, supplies, spaces, participant paperwork, and data tracking.
• Manages check-in/check-out procedures and responds to inquiries during programs.
• Follows safety and emergency procedures to protect participants and staff.
• Communicates incidents or issues to management in a timely manner.
• Represents and promotes the Center in donor and community activities.
