Job summary

The Family Place in Dallas, TX, seeks a Child Care Provider to offer nurturing, trauma-informed care and early childhood education to children in our shelter. You will plan and implement activities, teach foundational skills, and maintain a safe, organized classroom with support from assistants and the Program Director.

You will communicate with families, keep progress records, and participate in ongoing staff development to support children during their recovery and growth at The Family Place.

Qualifications

• BA/BS in a child-related field, or AA/AS in a child-related field + 1 year of child care experience, or CDA credential + 2 years of child care experience.
• Experience with developmentally appropriate activities and early childhood education.
• Commitment to trauma-informed care and safety in a shelter environment.

Responsibilities

• Plans and implements weekly developmentally appropriate activity plans including indoor/outdoor and nature-based activities.
• Maintains classroom structure following Frog Street curriculum and The Family Place guidelines.
• Teaches basic skills and observes children’s progress with accurate records.
• Supervises care routines, diapering, mealtime, and cleanliness in a safe classroom.
• Communicates with parents about daily interactions and progress; documents in tracking system.
• Trains and supports assistants and volunteers on classroom policies and procedures.
• Collaborates with Program Director to ensure consistent, trauma-informed care.
