Job summary

National Youth Advocate Program seeks a Lead Case Manager for the La Jornada program to coordinate case management and ensure safe, timely release services on-site. You will supervise and mentor the case management team, train staff, and collaborate with a cross-functional service delivery team to support youth and families.

Travel as needed, maintain relationships with foster parents, and guide staff safety assessments.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in the behavioral sciences, human services, or social services fields from an accredited institution.
• Bachelor's degree plus at least 3 years of supervisory/case management experience.

The Lead Case Manager at La Jornada is responsible for coordinating case management and safe and timely release services. This position supervises and trains case managers and ensure that case managers complete relevant training on child welfare topics. The Lead Case Manager must provide child-facing services on-site.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform all work in a manner consistent with the National Youth Advocate Program's Mission, Values and Philosophies.
• Provide supervision, mentoring, case consultation, and support to the case management team on a daily basis.
• Train and supervise staff
• Coordination of safe and timely release services in collaboration with the cross-functional service delivery team.
• Travel as needed, to provide and support the provision of services to, and on behalf of, youth and families in compliance with organizational, contract, and regulatory requirements.
• Complete all required training and ensure the case management team complete all required training in a timely manner.
• Establish and maintain a strong relationship with assigned foster parents.
• Support and assist program staff in locating and assessing potential sponsors, gathering their information, and assessing whether the potential sponsor is suitable.
• Guide and support program staff safety assessment, crisis response, and behavioral stabilization services as required to assure safety and stability for children served.
• Participate in the Continuous Quality Improvement activities on a monthly/quarterly basis.
• Maintain a caseload as needed.
• Other duties as requested.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Master's degree in the behavioral sciences, human services, or social services fields from an accredited institution, or bachelor's degree and at least 3 years of progressive employment experience that demonstrates supervisory and case management experience.
• Must demonstrate a sincere commitment to the service and advocacy for youth and families
• A valid professional license as required and acceptable by state or contract regulations.
• Must be at least 21 years of age at the time of hire.
• Driving personal vehicle in the performance of this job is required. Must have a valid driver's license, vehicle in good working order, and auto liability insurance coverage of $100,000/$300,000.
• Bilingual English/Spanish fluency.
• Proficient use of desktop and laptop computers, internet search, people management programs, smart phones and tablets, printers, fax machines and photocopiers as well as software including word processing, spreadsheet and database programs.

• Willingness to work flexible and non-traditional hours in the service of foster caregivers, families of origin, and persons served.
• Possess a sincere desire and ability to advocate for children facing behavioral health, immigration, educational, legal, development, and socio-economic challenges.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Use of manual dexterity, tactile, visual, and audio acuity.
• Use of repetitive motion, prolonged periods of sitting and standing, and sustained visual and mental applications and demands.
• Occasional lifting (up to 25 pounds), bending, pulling, and carrying.
• Ability to travel frequently and drive vehicle while sitting for extended periods, with frequency varying based on program demands.
