Job summary

The Literacy Coach will assist classroom teachers and educational assistants by providing direct support, coaching, and professional development for small group literacy enhancement. This district-wide role emphasizes bilingual English/Spanish instruction and modeling effective literacy practices.

Qualified candidates hold an Oregon teaching license with a K-5 endorsement, and must be fully bilingual/biliterate. Compensation is prorated based on FTE with a specialty stipend for 2026-2027.

Qualifications

• State Teaching license is required for elementary-level instruction.
• Endorsement in Elementary Multiple Subjects is required.
• Must be bilingual English/Spanish and biliterate.
• Five years of successful elementary teaching experience recommended.

Responsibilities

• Support teachers with literacy methods and strategies proven to increase student achievement.
• Provide coaching and professional development for small groups.
• Model best instructional practices through demonstrations or side-by-side coaching.
• Facilitate data-informed instructional decisions and district resources.
• Collaborate with district staff to ensure literacy curricular alignment.
• Communicate effectively with administrators and teachers to strengthen instruction.
