Job summary

Beaufort County School District is seeking a translator/interpreter to translate documents and provide consecutive or simultaneous interpretation for ESOL programs, parent conferences, and IEP-related meetings. You will translate school documents and assist with translations of registration materials and notices.

Fluency in English and at least one foreign language, along with strong communication skills, is required.

Qualifications

• Fluent in written and spoken English and in foreign language(s).
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Strong verbal, written communication, interpersonal, and listening skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Reads and rewrites technical documents in specified language, following rules for word meaning and grammar.
• Translates school documents and registration information, including evaluation of prior records.
• Serves as interpreter at seminars, meetings, and teleconferences with consecutive or simultaneous translation.
