Job summary

Waterloo Community School District is seeking a Long-Term Substitute Native Language Interpreter in Waterloo, Iowa. The role supports translation, enrollment, and data entry for migrant education programs under supervision.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalency and at least 1 year of secretarial/clerical experience, with fluency in English and ability to translate in the native language.

Qualifications

• One year experience as secretary and/or clerk typist

Responsibilities

• Assists district staff with translating materials in native language as directed
• Assists with the enrollment of new students
• Enters data on Migrant Education database
• Effectively follows procedures to answer questions and direct visitors/staff appropriately
• Accurately translates and produces written documents (letters, notices, reports)
• Answers and routes telephone calls as needed
• Attends conferences and assists as needed
• Assists with the completion of National Certificate of Eligibility for Migrant Education status and funding at the district level
• Maintains records and completes reports as required by law, district policy and administrative requirements
• Completes other duties as assigned
