Job summary

Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Washington seeks an Attorney to support immigration matters, provide direct representation, and mentor interns and volunteers. The role focuses on pro bono referrals, especially U visas for crime victims, and collaboration with partner centers.

You will interview clients, draft filings, appear before USCIS, immigration court, and the BIA, and supervise interns while expanding outreach to law firms and community partners.

Qualifications

• J.D. required and licensed to practice law.
• Maryland Bar preferred; DC/MD admission acceptable.
• At least 1 year immigration law experience (asylum, U visa, VAWA, SIJS, removal) preferred.
• Bi-lingual in English and Spanish; strong oral and written communication.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct representation in immigration matters and pro bono mentorship, focusing on U visas for crime victims.
• Screen cases for immigration relief and refer to pro bono attorneys for representation.
• Interview clients and advise on options, drafting documents and filings before USCIS, immigration court, and BIA.
• Supervise and mentor volunteer and pro bono attorneys, plan trainings, and manage cases to ensure outcomes.
• Engage with law firms and bar organizations, serving as liaison with community partners.
