Job description

BILINGUAL IMMIGRATION ATTORNEY (Mid-Level or Senior)
We're not looking to fill a seat. We're looking for an exceptional attorney ready to lead.

Brown Law is a boutique immigration firm in the heart of Old Town Alexandria - technology-driven, fast-growing, and built on the belief that elite legal work and genuine client care aren't a trade-off. We're actively building out our senior bench, and this role is designed for an attorney with the talent, judgment, and drive to take real ownership - not just fill a caseload. If you're the kind of attorney other lawyers already come to for the hard cases, we want to hear from you.

Position Title

Bilingual Associate Attorney - Mid-Level or Senior

Reports To

Chief of Staff and Founding Partners

Hiring Manager

Danielle Khan, Chief of Staff

Classification

Full-Time, Exempt

Salary Range

$135,000 - $175,000 annually, commensurate with experience level

Real Ownership, Real Growth

This is a partnership-track position for the right attorney. You'll work directly alongside firm leadership, take ownership of high-stakes matters, and have genuine input into how the practice grows. We're investing in this hire because we're looking for someone who can help elevate the firm's work - and grow into leading it.

Our Reputation Is the Standard You'll Build On

"You enter your consultation feeling uncertain and unsure about your future and come out knowing exactly what your options are. They give you their full attention and do a great job!"

"The team at Brown Law works extremely hard... From office personnel to the legal team, the patience, care, and concern shown is so appreciated and needed. This team makes you feel like family."

  • Real autonomy from day one. Your caseload, your client relationships, your strategy - with the backing of a firm that invests in doing it right.
  • Direct access to firm leadership. You'll work with the founders, not around them - and have a real voice in the firm’s direction as it scales.
  • A technology edge that protects your time. Clients are kept informed automatically, so your hours go toward legal judgment, not administrative follow-up.
  • A trophy office built for the work. One of Old Town Alexandria's best buildings - designed so the work feels as serious as it is.
  • Growth at exactly the right moment. Brown Law is scaling now. Joining at this stage means shaping what the firm becomes, not just working within it.
The Role
Mid-Level Associate (5+ years)

You bring substantial, hands-on experience handling complex Master Calendar Hearings and bond hearings, and both preparing for and appearing at Individual (merits) Hearings in Immigration Court. You're an attorney who thrives in the courtroom, but is just as energized meeting with clients in the office, briefing cases, and writing motions. You'll independently manage a full caseload of USCIS and Immigration Court matters from filing to resolution.

Senior Associate (10+ years)

You're consult-ready and strategy-first, meeting directly with current and prospective clients to design case strategy from the outset, then partnering with our associate attorneys to put that strategy into action. You'll also appear at Master Calendar Hearings, bond hearings, and Individual Hearings on an as-needed basis. When a case strategy needs to shift - a Request for Evidence, a change in circumstances, a new development - you're the one advising on next steps, updating the firm's strategy, and handing it off cleanly so our associates can execute it well. In short: you own each case from intake to resolution, nose to tail, while leveraging our associate attorneys to carry out the core legal work.

Qualifications
  • Licensed to practice law and in good standing in any U.S. state.
  • Fully bilingual, English and Spanish (spoken and written) - required.
  • 5+ years of experience in family-based and humanitarian forms of immigration relief, including substantial Immigration Court experience - Master Calendar Hearings, bond hearings, and Individual Hearings (mid-level); or 10+ years in the same practice areas with a track record of independently leading client consultations and complex case strategy (senior). This is a removal-defence and family/humanitarian immigration practice - not business immigration - so deep experience in these specific forms of relief is required, not general immigration exposure.
  • A demonstrated reputation for excellence - the kind of attorney colleagues and clients specifically seek out.
  • Sound judgment under pressure, and the ability to explain high-stakes legal situations with clarity and genuine compassion.
  • Leadership instincts - at the senior level, real interest and ability in developing the attorneys and the practice around you.
