Job summary

The Committee for Hispanic Children and Families, Inc. (CHCF) in Bronx, NY, seeks a Housing Specialist to help clients in shelters secure and sustain permanent housing. You will work within a multidisciplinary team, coordinating housing resources and advocating for clients’ housing needs.

You will identify housing options, support applications, and build partnerships with landlords and agencies. Hybrid schedule and program duties apply.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Human Services or related field required.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish required.
• Minimum of one year of counseling experience and two years in housing services or related field.
• Knowledge of housing resources and programs; ability to collaborate with housing agencies.

Responsibilities

• Assist individuals and families in securing permanent housing through assessments, referrals, and advocacy.
• Identify and secure safe, affordable housing meeting HQS requirements.
• Assess eligibility for affordable housing, rental assistance, and subsidies.
• Develop partnerships with landlords, housing agencies, and community organizations.
• Assist with housing applications, documentation, and overcoming barriers to housing.
• Facilitate housing-focused workshops and maintain housing resource databases.
• Maintain accurate case records and participate in team meetings and trainings.
• Represent CHCF at housing meetings and community events.
