Job summary

Latino Network in Portland, OR seeks a part-time Garden Extended-day Instructor to support the SUN Community School Site Manager. You will guide students in garden activities, plan and lead classes, and ensure safety across indoor and outdoor spaces.

This role requires flexibility for evenings/weekends during peak periods and a commitment to working with children aged 6-14 from diverse backgrounds. The candidate should be reliable and community-minded.

Qualifications

• Desire to work with children ages 6-14 from diverse backgrounds.
• Experience developing and executing academic and recreational lesson plans.
• Ability to document work and communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Sensitivity and ability to relate to people from diverse lifestyles and cultures.
• Willingness to work as a team member and support Latino Network's mission.

Responsibilities

• Act as a positive role-model for up to 15 students ages 6-14.
• Plan and lead garden classes using state approved resources.
• Support the program including recess and supper; supervise safety in buses, hallways, classrooms, outdoor spaces.
• Follow SUN Manager guidelines to provide safe classes.
• Complete other activities as assigned by SUN Manager.
• Attend quarterly training with SUN Garden Coordinator.
• Support garden workshops and garden parties for families.
