Job summary

Kansas City Public Schools is seeking an ESOL Bilingual Instructional Paraprofessional to support students and families across multiple KCPS locations in Kansas City, Missouri.

Responsibilities include collaborating with teachers, providing interpretation/translation, assisting with English Learner identification, and leading small-group instruction under supervision. Starting salary is $17.59 per hour, with a range up to $34.04 and full-time benefits.

Qualifications

• Sixty college hours or Para Pro Certification is required.
• Bilingual/Multilingual ability is required.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with teachers to implement activities that support students' instructional and social-emotional needs.
• Assist teachers with team teaching, planning, and daily classroom routines.
• Monitor student behavior and reinforce expectations to promote a safe, respectful, and productive learning environment.
• Lead small-group instruction under the direction of a supervising teacher.
• Provide interpretation and translation services for KCPS stakeholders, including teachers, parents, and staff, as needed.
• Assist with the identification, screening, and assessment of English Learners.
• Participate in conferences, parent meetings, team meetings, professional development, and other assigned meetings.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Summary:

Collaborate with classroom teachers and staff to support student learning through the implementation of instructional activities and targeted language supports. Provide interpretation and translation services to facilitate communication and engagement among students, families, school staff, and district personnel.

To Be Successful at This Job, You'll Need To: (Minimum Qualifications)

• Sixty (60) college hours or Para Pro Exam Certification
• Bilingual/Multilingual

In Order to #LevelUp in This Role, You'll Need: (Preferred Qualifications)

• Three (3) years experience working with students and parents/guardians
• Coursework in education or a related field.

Physical Demands:

This job requires that the employee be able to: sit, stand, walk, speak, hear, use hands, fingers, and reach with hands and fingers; bend, stoop, and lift objects of at least ten pounds. The job requires the employee occasionally to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
