Job summary

IDEA Public Schools is seeking a Bilingual/ESL Paraprofessional (Title III) to support emergent bilingual/ESL students in English Language Development, assist teachers, tutor small groups, and connect with families. The role reports to campus principal and works under supervision of certified teachers.

Compensation is hourly between $15.51 and $21.33, paid over 12 months. IDEA offers a comprehensive benefits plan, including paid family leave, tuition reimbursement up to $5,250 per year, and

Qualifications

• Education: Completion of at least 48 semester units of study at an accredited institution or possession of an associate's degree or higher from an accredited institution of higher education
• Experience: 1+ year(s) of experience working with children in a classroom or volunteer setting; Experience working with Emergent Bilinguals in an educational setting (strongly preferred)
• Required: Bilingual English & Spanish
• Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer, hand-held learning devices and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds

Responsibilities

• Provide instructional support and language instruction to newcomer Emergent Bilingual (EB)/English Learner (EL) students in classroom, individual, and small group settings
• Assist classroom teachers in implementing strategies to support language acquisition and academic success for EB/ELs
• Assist with direct academic and language designed instructional activities during whole-group and small-group content instruction
• Implement prescribed newcomer curriculum(s) with fidelity (if assigned to lead
• Reviews student placement and progress with content-area teacher(s)
• Support classroom management and behavior intervention strategies as needed
• Providing home language tutorial assistance to individual students and help them prepare assignments in their second language
• Participate in professional development opportunities to expand knowledge and skills related to bilingual and ESL education.
