Job summary

Denver Public Schools is seeking a K-5 Bilingual (Spanish-English) Special Education Moderate Needs Teacher. You will design and deliver individualized, culturally responsive instruction for elementary students with diverse learning needs.

You will collaborate with families and work across special education services, including co-teaching in general education classrooms. You’ll need a valid Colorado teaching license, a Bachelor's in Education, and bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English.

Qualifications

  • Hold a Bachelor's degree in Education or related field required.
  • Have a valid Colorado Department of Education (CDE) teaching license.
  • ELA-S Only: bilingual in Spanish and English required; SLP/ Praxis II information as applicable.
  • Experience with young special needs students and families preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Strong communication, time management, problem solving and organization skills.
  • Commitment to equitable education and community engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver individualized lesson plans across subjects with direct instruction aligned to district standards.
  • Administer and interpret formal and informal assessments to inform instruction.
  • Counsel and support students to promote achievement and well-being.
  • Monitor behavior, enforce rules, and reinforce positive conduct per district policy.
  • Observe, evaluate and record student progress and prepare required reports.
  • Prepare lessons and materials, adapt instruction for varying needs and interests.
  • Administer, assign and grade tests; report grades using district software.
  • Communicate with families and staff to address behavioral and academic concerns.
  • Provide daily living support and assistive technology operation as trained.
